Chess table made from Patrón Tequila bottles wins $10k

A chess table made from old Patrón Tequila bottles, with miniatures used as pieces, has been awarded US$10,000 in the brand’s inaugural ‘The Art of Patron’ contest.

Having noticed a growing population of artists repurposing Patrón bottles into elaborate pieces of art including chandeliers and vases, the super-premium Tequila brand decided to launch a contest to find the greatest piece.

Brandon Montgomery from San Diego used 52 empty bottles of Patrón to create his chess set and table for the competition.

His piece was selected over nine other finalists, which included a Patrón camera viewfinder; a floorlamp; a chandelier; and a dumbbell.
