3 Wine Festivals Worth Traveling For

This year, expand your cultural horizons—and drink some amazing wine while you’re at it. Here’s how to make 2017 the year you travel the world in search of the best wines.

For us, wine and travel go hand in hand. The best way to truly understand a new place is to experience its wine and cuisine—and what better way to do that than to attend an internationally renowned wine festival, where top wine producers and sommeliers come together to share their expertise?

Planning a trip around a wine festival can be a great excuse for traveling the world. Here are 3 domestic and international ideas to start you off.

La Nuit en Rosé

This three-day, tri-city festival takes place in New York Los Angeles and Miami and it’s dedicated exclusively to rosé wines and champagne. It’s rosé’s moment in the sun and the ticket even comes with a pair of pink sunglasses.

Save the date: TBC – but La Nuit en Rosé normally takes place towards the end of June every year.

RAW

The brainchild of Master of Wine Isabelle Legeron, this artisan wine fair seeks to celebrate what it calls “wines with emotion” —or, “Wines that have a humanlike, or living, presence.” This London based wine celebration features over 150 producers from around the world. All wine served must conform to RAW’s “Charter of Quality,” which includes specifications on hand harvesting grapes, eco-friendly farming techniques, and foregoing manipulation during the winemaking process.

Save the date: The RAW festival is normally held in March. If you can’t make it to London in time, you can always catch the festival in New York or Berlin during November.

Chengdu

Chengdu is the biggest food, wine and spirit show in China. Also known as The China Food & Drinks Fair, the show hosts over 3,000 exhibitors and 300,000 attendees on more than 100,000 square meters of exhibit space, where business valued at some 23 billion RMB (3.4 billion USD) is regularly made.
