Adele banned from her own Twitter account due to drunk tweets

Adele has revealed she has been banned from social media by her management.

The “Hello” singer is no longer allowed to post to her Twitter account on her own due to her history of sending drunk tweets, according to ET Canada on Friday. Adele admitted to the story in a new interview with BBC host Graham Norton, saying, “I’m not a drinker any more, but when Twitter first came out I was drunk tweeting and nearly put my foot in it quite a few times.”

While Adele confessed that her team manages her Twitter account so she can’t send drunk tweets anymore, she reiterated that the posts are all written by her. “My management decided that you have to go through two people and then it has to be signed off by someone,” she explained. “But they’re all my tweets. No one writes my tweets. They just post them for me.”

Adele is not the only celebrity who has a management team that took over social media. After Ashton Kutcher fired off an uneducated post about the firing of Penn State coach Joe Paterno four years ago, the actor’s millions of followers informed him of the pending sex abuse scandal at the school. The “Two and a Half Men” star promptly apologized for denouncing Paterno’s firing (he was unaware of the scandal), then announced he would be turning the management of his Twitter feed over to his publicists to “ensure the quality of its content,” according to The Los Angeles Times.
