Adele gives up booze over voice fears

The Hello singer has attempted to give up the booze on a number of occasions over the years to curb her drunken antics, but this time she has been told to go teetotal to preserve her vocal cords.

Adele is set to embark on a huge tour in Europe and North America next year (16), and she is doing what she can to make sure she does not lose her voice, a problem which blighted her previous tours and ended with throat surgery in 2011.

“I am not allowed to drink as it dehydrates my vocal chords,” she tells the Daily Mirror newspaper. “Alcohol blocks your ears when you get drunk and you get lairy, which makes you talk louder. I might raise my voice and my voice might go again.”

Adele first declared she had stopped drinking in 2009, and she quit once again in 2011 because she hated not being able to remember her drunken behaviour.
