Benguela on Main – Where business meets pleasure

We didn’t know exactly where our meeting would take place, but we knew we wouldn’t end up in a conference room.  Intimate, refreshing and something different – this is what my colleagues had in mind. When meeting with clients or business associates, the last thing you’d want is lack of privacy and the noise of an overworked espresso machine.

We received word of a quaint little place just outside of Cape Town. Intimate, refreshing and something different, is what we were promised. Making our way to Somerset West for a business meeting was out of the ordinary, the Mother City had many locations, but there was something about the name Benguela on Main that simply stuck with us.

We were greeted by eclectic artwork and elegant interior. Our server welcomed us with an inviting smile and took us up to The Taster when we mentioned we were looking for the perfect setting for a meeting. And what a knockout! During our meeting we nibbled on treats from a well-presented cheese and charcuterie board, which then concluded with a glass of red wine from Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate. Our colleague, a wine-extraordinaire of note, couldn’t stop raving about its refined taste and ended up buying a bottle of the best Merlot she claimed she has ever had.

There’s something quite unique about Benguela on Main. It must have been the food. Or the charming atmosphere. Whatever it was, it worked. We stayed for lunch and enjoyed some of the most elegantly presented dishes I have ever experienced. As the waiter brought our food, we could only marvel at what seemed to be art on a plate. Smoked crème fraiche never looked so beautiful and the flavours came to life with every bite.

Whether you’re interested in looking for a meeting venue, seeking leisure time, or even host a private function, Benguela on Main won’t disappoint. Our server also recommended we invite the entire team over for our year-end function. We found our Helderberg hidden gem, and are prepared to share it with everyone.
