Burgundy meets Creation at the 2018 Hemel-en-Aarde Pinot Noir Celebration

Last weekend saw Creation Wines participating in the 5th annual Hemel-en-Aarde Pinot Noir Celebration by hosting an event titled ‘Burgundy meets Creation’.  The glittering occasion featured a brunch pairing showing Creation’s award-winning Pinot Noir portfolio along with a special selection from Domaine Philippe Colin in the village of Chassagne-Montrachet, Burgundy where he currently has one Grand Cru and nine Premier Crus.

Creation co-owner Carolyn Martin comments: “Pinot Noir is one of the world’s finest and most enchanting cultivars and it was indeed a pleasure to celebrate the Prince of Reds with our friend Philippe. We would like to thank him again for the great flights of Pinot he brought to our tasting. And a hearty thank you to our guests for making the morning so memorable.”

The guests were welcomed with a glass of the crisp and elegant Elation MCC accompanied by a delectable spread of canapés such as Deep-fried Smoked Duck, Beetroot and Pinot Salt Ravioli with Cheese Mousse, Pistachio and Raspberry. A superb start to what turned out to be a feast for the senses!

The tasting was done in four flights and jointly conducted by Philippe Colin and Creation cellarmaster Jean-Claude (JC) Martin.  The first flight included the highly rated 2015 and 2016 Philippe Colin Premier Cru Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot which was followed by the 2015 Gevrey Chambertin, Mes Cinq Terroirs, a glorious wine grown in five different vineyard blocks. Philippe ended his presentation with the marvellously structured 1999 Chassagne-Montrachet, First Cru.
