Cate Blanchett drank a lot of wine for Blue Jasmine

Cate Blanchett has revealed her inspirations for her role in Blue Jasmine, including becoming a lady of leisure and indulging in wine.

Cate Blanchett has revealed that while preparing for her latest role, she indulged in several glasses of rosé to help her get into character.

The Oscar-winning actress played the role of a New York City housewife who loses her wealth and powerful status when her businessman husband — played by Alec Baldwin — is found guilty of running a Ponzi scheme.

Not only did the actress get to enjoy wine in Woody Allen’s new drama, Blue Jasmine, she also got into the mind-set of her lady of leisure.

Blanchett drew inspiration for the character by observing real life women in similar situations — particularly the Bernie Madoff scandal.

The film has been described as one of the darkest and most unsettling films that Allen has made in years!
