Constantia Glen scoops two gold medals in Canada

Constantia Glen, the magnificently appointed boutique wine estate known for exceptional cool climate wines, has clinched two gold and one silver medal at the prestigious 2012 Sélections Mondiales des Vins wine competition in Québec, Canada.

The two gold medalists are the flagship red, Constantia Glen Five 2008, and Constantia Glen Sauvignon Blanc 2011, while the Constantia Glen Three 2008, the estate’s other Bordeaux-style red, was awarded silver.

This Canadian accolade is the 4th international gold medal for the newly released Constantia Glen Five 2008, an outstanding Bordeaux-style blend with a broad spectrum of aromas centred around a core of rich black berries. This highly acclaimed Constantia Glen red also won gold medals at the 2011 International Wine and Spirit Competition (Best in Class), the 2011 International Wine Challenge and Germany’s Mundus Vini 2011. The 2008 vintage also fared well in the USA earlier this year with a 91 point rating from the New York basedWine Enthusiast, one of the world’s most influential magazines devoted exclusively to wine and spirits.

Canada’s Sélections Mondiales des Vins is considered one of the most important and prestigious wine competitions in North America, with 1 806 wines from 581 different producers from 35 countries entered this year.

Constantia Glen Five 2008 and Constantia Glen Three 2008 are available at leading wine outlets and fine dining establishments and sell at the cellar door for R245 and R150 respectively, while the Sauvignon Blanc 2011 is priced at R100.
