Creation Syrah, Grenache: A Real Dish of a Wine!

This past week saw the release of the 2016 Creation Syrah, Grenache, one of the estate’s flagship blends and a wine renowned for its remarkable pairing versatility. The wine has enjoyed great acclaim since the release of the maiden (2007) vintage, with among the latest accolades for the 2015 vintage 92 points allocated by Neal Martin for eRobertParker.com and 93 points allocated by Jamie Goode, a renowned British wine writer with a PhD in Plant Biology.

Creation was the first estate in the Hemel-en-Aarde to plant a Grenache vineyard (in 2003) and the fruitier, floral notes of this cultivar have proven to be the perfect foil for the denser structure and spicy flavours present in the Syrah. The result is a Rhône-style blend that Creation pairing guru, Carolyn Martin, likes to describe as ‘a sly chameleon’ due to its ability to change personality depending on the pairing and even the occasion!
