David Frost shares his passion of golf and wine

Like a good wine, David Frost’s game is aging gracefully. That much was evident Sunday when he turned in a final-round 69 to finish in a tie for second place at 8-under-par at the Insperity Invitational.

The 56-year-old from South Africa, who has won six times on the PGA Tour Champions circuit, certainly had his chances on Sunday, especially on the back nine. In fact, at one point he birdied four out of five holes. The trouble is that there was a bogey in the middle, and it came on the par-5 13th, a hole he birdied the day before. So instead of getting to 7-under (he was just off the green in two and wound up three-putting), he fell back to 6-under and found himself playing for second place.

Still, it was a good week for Frost, who these days alternates between the tour and his other passion, David Frost Wines, from his winery located in the famous Stellenbosch region of South Africa. Unlike many athletes who lend their names to wine brands, Frost is actually a third generation wine producer. His grandfather bought his first vineyard near Cape Town in 1932 and Frost bought his in 1994.
