DoubleTree by Hilton’s tasty treat

DoubleTree by Hilton Cape Town Upper Eastside Hotel has embraced its new name, as well as its new branding under the DoubleTree by Hilton umbrella. It has become synonymous with the brand’s wonderful service, warm and friendly ambience and excellent amenities but there is one slightly quirky and completely delicious aspect of the DoubleTree by Hilton namesake that keeps guests coming back for more … the renowned chocolate chip cookie.

Presented to each guest at check-in, the daily oven-baked chocolate chip cookie has become a refreshing welcome to travellers for many years and has also played an important role in differentiating the brand’s delivery of hospitality from its competition having already having given out 15000 cookies.

DoubleTree by Hilton began giving out chocolate chip cookies in the 1980s, when many hotels across the country used them as treats for VIPs. And this year the cookie celebrates its 27th birthday. In fact DoubleTree by Hilton gives out approximately 25 000 000 warm treats annually! That’s 385.5kgs pounds of chocolate chips!

In 1986 the recipe was created and a select group of bakeries around the world currently hold the brand’s secret formula, which ensures that the same, delicious cookie is delivered consistently at every DoubleTree by Hilton hotel and resort.

And it’s not only the lucky hotel visitors that get to sample this traditional cookie. DoubleTree by Hilton donates cookies to doctors, nurses, police and firefighters, as well as non-profit groups such as food banks and homeless shelters in order to celebrate thank and help members of its community.
