Gold for Franschhoek Vignerons at 2017 Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show

Franschhoek producers have excelled yet again bringing home Gold at this year’s Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show. The results were announced on 30 May at a special awards ceremony attended by producers and members of the media.

The Gold medal winners were Allée Bleue (Allée Bleue Pinotage 2015), Boschendal (Boschendal Jean le Long Prestige Cuvée Blanc de Blanc 2007) and La Motte (La Motte Pierneef Syrah Viognier 2015). The Boschendal Cuvée Blanc de Blanc also secured a spot on the list of Top 10 Sparkling Wines. GlenWood Vineyard’s Grand Duc Noblesse Noble Late Harvest earned a place on the list of Top 10 Dessert Wines: Unfortified.

The Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show panel of judges, chaired by Michael Fridjhon, comprised a selection of highly experienced local and international wine experts, who judged 960 wines from 198 producers. In addition to the Gold medals and trophy winners, a total of 135 Silver and 460 Bronze medals were awarded.
