House of Krone to Sparkle at Azure Restaurant

Featuring cosy fireplaces and spectacular sunset views, the Azure Restaurant at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in Cape Town is hosting an exclusive dinner in conjunction with the House of Krone on Friday, 31 August 2012. The evening will showcase the skills of the hotel’s Executive Chef, Henrico Grobbelaar, and House of Krone’s cellar master, Matthew Krone, as they pair a tantalising menu with the renowned Méthode Cap Classique sparkling wines of South Africa’s second oldest family-owned wine estate, Twee Jonge Gezellen at Tulbagh.

Chef Henrico is known to infuse Azure diners’ taste buds with a variety of exquisite meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes, using top quality seasonal ingredients sourced from local producers. Matthew Krone is the 12th generation of innovative and successful winemakers to take over the responsibility of managing the Twee Jonge Gezellen estate. He grew his passion for viticulture under the nurturing eyes of his father, Nicky, and late grandfather, N.C. Krone, whom he still calls his ‘biggest heroes’.

The talented young duo will dazzle diners with a 4-course dinner, wine and coffee (R395 per person), starting with an amuse bouche of Fresh oyster and tuna titaki, followed by a first course of Chicken supreme, parsnip puree, king trumpet mushroom and braised pearl onion – both combined with Krone Borealis (2009 vintage), named after a distinct constellation of stars called “Corona Borealis”.

The second course includes Smoked salmon panna cotta and avocado, pea and prosciutto salad and Krone Rosé (2008). Then follows Crayfish and prawn risotto, foie gras mousse and white truffle oil, matched with Nicolas Charles Krone Marque 1. To crown it all, the evening’s dessert of Chocolate moelleux, raspberry ice cream, and strawberries with pistachio sabayon will be paired once more with the very fashionable Krone Rosé (2008).

To make the evening’s magic linger a little longer, The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa is offering a special package which includes dinner, luxury accommodation and a full English breakfast at an all-inclusive price of R1 199.50 per person per night sharing.
