Everyone knows the famous foods from South Africa – boerewors, biltong, pap, melk tart, vetkoek…but what about all the awesome drinks we have too?

1. Don/Dom Pedro

Most South Africans have tried at least one of these and when you try one, you’ll want to keep coming back for more.

Basically it’s a grown up version of a milkshake and the standard version consists of vanilla ice cream, milk and whiskey.

There are many variations these days including Amarula Don Pedros and Kahlua Don Pedros and often these can be a great finish to a meal instead of a dessert as you get dessert and an aperitif in one. What’s not to love?
