If you are overweight, red wine won`t benefit you

It has been scientifically proved that diseases like diabetes, dementia, heart disease and hearing loss can be cured by drinking red wine.

Red wine is known to provide a cure for diseases like diabetes, dementia, heart disease and hearing loss, but the health benefits of red wine cannot help people who are obese, say researchers.

Resveratrol, an active compound that is found in the skins of red grapes and cocoa, is an antioxidant that is produced by plants and helps protect them from extreme environments and also blocks the effect of ultraviolet sunlight, infections and temperature changes.

According to research, that was published in the journal Diabetes, it was found that although test-tube studies had suggested that resveratrol had an effect on obesity, diabetes, high blood-pressure and blood cholesterol, it had no effect on 24 obese, but otherwise healthy men who participated in a research programme.

As per the study, that was carried out by the Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark, 12 men were given high-dose supplements of the substance and 12 men a placebo for four weeks.

Over this period the participant’s insulin sensitivity, blood pressure, cholesterol, and resting energy expenditure were monitored and researchers found that there was an insignificant decrease in insulin sensitivity and no change in blood pressure, cholesterol and resting energy expenditure.
