From luxury burger packaging at McDonald’s to a $16 foie gras and truffle burger at Wendy’s, you can typically count on the Japanese market to have more unique offerings than the standardized menus of global fast food chains. Beginning today, KFC Japan will be adding deep fried corn potage fritters, an entirely new item to the menu. Corn potage is a popular soup found everywhere in Japan from upscale joints to 7-Eleven and the corn potage flavor has also made its way into popsicles, potato chips and puffs.

For KFC Japan, their limited-edition corn potage fritters are remarkably simple to make, as the fast food giant describes in their press release: “We bread the corn potage and cook it to a crisp.” Soft and creamy on the inside and crunchy on the outside, we doubt this item will make it stateside but it could fare well considering the American obsession with everything deep fried.
