Laborie wins at the Paarl Wine Challenge

Laborie’s Brut MCC 2010 has won the the Top MCC award at this year’s Paarl Wine Challenge.

6 judges nominated Laborie’s Brut MCC for the award, which saw the Paarl producer see off competition from 7 other MCC’s, at a blind tasting held at Nederburg.

The judges included; Dave Hughes as convenor; winemaker Christo Roux; sommelier Tatiana Marcetteau; journalist with Winelands Magazine Elona Hesseling; food and wine specialist Katinka van Niekerk; well known restaurateur and sommelier Marc Friederich and sommelier Barry Scholfield.

Now in its 15th year, the Paarl Wine Challenge recognises wines that are produced by wineries within the Paarl region.

Commenting on the win Laborie Brand Manager Kerryn Lancaster said, “We’re delighted that the Brut MCC has taken the Top MCC award. It can rightfully take its place on the podium beside our multi-award winning Blanc de Blanc. We are well on our way in developing a truly award winning range.”

Winemaker Kobus van der Merwe, who accepted the award on behalf of Laborie, added; “This 50/50 Chardonnay/Pinot Noir blend is a fresh, zesty, yeasty wine with a creaminess that many people really like and it’s great value at R85.”
