New vintage release for La Motte Millennium

Already in 1988 the visionary late Dr. Anton Rupert registered the Millennium™ trademark and it was also this vintage of the Claret-style wine that first carried the name, La Motte Millennium™. Ever since, this elegant red wine has been synonymous with the culture and quality of La Motte.

Well-established as a Bordeaux-style blend incorporating all five Bordeaux varieties, the 2010 vintage is the first to also contain 16% Shiraz. Merlot (24%), Cabernet Sauvignon (23%) and Cabernet Franc (19%) dominate, creating the Bordeaux profile which the wine has become known for while the Shiraz component adds more complexity. The blend also contains 11% Malbec and 7% Petit Verdot.

Grapes originate from different regions, all contributing to its flavour components – 54% Walker Bay (organically grown), 32% Swartland, 7% Elgin and 6% Stellenbosch.

The nose is intense with cherry and mulberry fruit, cinnamon and a hint of aniseed as well as some delicate toffee and caramel flavours from a 16-month maturation in 225-litre French oak barrels (30% new oak). Smooth and juicy on the palate, the 2010 La Motte Millennium™ is a beautiful glass of red wine on its own, while its complexity and intense berry flavours ensure it to be an excellent partner to red meat and matured cheese.

The 2010 La Motte Millennium™ is available at the cellar door for R77 per bottle.
