One of the oldest authenticated vintages of Cognac set for auction

One of the oldest authenticated vintages of Cognac in existence will go under the hammer at Bonhams in April this year.

The auction house will host its ‘Whisky, Cognac and Rare Spirits’ sale on 30 April in New York, where a 1762 Gautier Cognac will feature.

Estimated to be worth US$20,000-US$25,000, the Cognac was bottled in 1840 and features a handwritten label.

Cognac house Gautier has been in operation since the early 1700s and received a royal warrant from King Louise XV in 1755.

Another vintage from the 18th century – 1790 Cognac Grande Champagne from Napoleon Alexandre & Cie – will also be available at the auction and has been valued at US$15,000-US$20,000.
