Mapping Terroir : Day Eight

While tasting may take place blind in the tasting hokkies at the Spruitdrift Cellar of Namaqua Wines, it doesn’t mean that Big Boetie is not watching you, as the sobering notice affixed to the hokkie walls warns.

A wonderful R25 Pinotage and a couple of gems from Gideon Theron with whom I was tasting ABSA Top Ten Pinotage earlier in the month. Olifantsrivier is a Maritime appellation, although its location 300km north of the Hemel en Aarde paradise means the wines have tropical fruit character although that pleasing freshness of natural acidity is shared.
