In the past Harleys Liquor & Wine was seen by some as a moontlike put van sonde (possible den of iniquity) in the Bo-Kaap by some elements in the community.  There were many imitators like the Tudor Cafe (below).  David Cope, a legend of responsible drinking in hip circles, will bring some civilized conviviality to the hood when his Publik Wine Bar opens at the end of the month.

At the moment, the place is a building – but a whale-free – site as I’m reliably informed there is no intention to serve cocktails to ceteceans.
