Karoo Kêrels leave die Kaap

Jozi, here we come.  The Karoo Kêrels have left die Kaap and are heading to Hyde Park, loaded down with ostriches (biltong, droë wors and magnificent eggs), brandy and brandy balloons like the one below which features a kartoon by Chris Denovan.

The idea for an afternoon tea exhibition (2-5pm) struck like lightning after we tasted the delicacies of pastry chef Michael.

The off for Chardonnay with Madame May and Charles Withington at Glenelly in Ida’s Valley. Unwooded 2012 unusually creamy and then a wooded 2012 that takes the great grape of Burgundy to another level. “Blends are best” says May, except in Burgundy.

These are surely terroir wines that some commentators hold is a SCAM: Soil, Climate, Aspect and Man.  In this case it’s Soil, Climate, Aspect and May.
