Wildekrans 2012 Reserve Pinotage – WOW!

Is the Wildekrans Reserve Pinotage 2012 the best Pinotage ever made in SA? Well if it isn’t, it must be pretty close. Cool climate elegance inside a velvet glove. We had a bottle this evening with artist Jan du Toit and toasted the late, great authorĀ Hennie Aucamp who passed away on Thursday. Jan leaves for Oudtshoorn tomorrow for the KKNK on the Pottie bussie (R280 one way from Bellville via Strand and you must confirm your booking the day before via SMS). Here is another artist, Joachim Schonfeldt with Wildekrans owner Amanda Harlow. Oops, I nearly wrote Amanda Strydom, who was a dear friend of Hennie.

I have one more unlabelled bottle left and the question is whether to have it at Emily’s tomorrow night with Peter Veldsman or to throw it into the Good Value Guru Pinotage tasting at the Taj on Wednesday. Pinotage is at last growing into its potential. Argentina and Malbec had better pasop.
