Solms-Delta wins Gold at Michelangelo awards

Solms-Delta’s Amalie 2010 white Rhône style blend won Gold at the Michelangelo Awards at a function held at Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West on Friday 14 Sept 2012.

The barrel-fermented and matured dry white blend of Viognier, Roussanne and Grenache blanc is a complex, golden-rich, intensely aromatic and fruity wine, with a well-integrated tannic structure.

Solms-Delta CEO Craig MacGillivray said he was delighted with this acknowledgement received from respected wine experts, both local and international, who judged the entries. “Solms-Delta Amalie 2010 is a white blend of the highest standard, and we are proud to take home Gold.”

Currently in its 16th year, a record number of 1432 entries for the Michelangelo awards were received from 295 producers, of which 41 were from international producers. More and more, growers are realising the value of this competition and the entries this year were of a very high standard, with the top-scoring wines of world class quality.
