TAILEVU’S finest cocoa wine, more commonly known as chocolate wine has become a popular display at the 2011 Crest Agriculture Show at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

Unlike the red and white wines we mostly buy on special from our liquor stores, cocoa wine has a lot of to offer aside from the retail price of $12 a bottle.

It smells good, has 9.5 per cent alcohol content but most importantly, it is Fiji made, produced in the province of Tailevu by members of the Tailevu Cocoa Farmers Association and the Niuvou brothers รน a family business from Namau in Tailevu. The wine is the product of Tevita Niuvou’s five-year cocoa research and studies he carried out in Switzerland a few years ago.
He was among five other cocoa farmers from Tailevu who were given an opportunity to learn about cocoa farming there. At the moment, he is the only one that has managed to set up a business with the hope to set a standard for cocoa farming in the country.
