The Base wood-fire pizza restaurant opens at The President Hotel

While it seems that we already have an abundance of pizza options here in Cape Town, there’s always room for more. If you’ve had your fill of French, Mexican or South African cuisine and developed a craving for some pizza, hop on over to The President Hotel and tuck into a wood-fired oven pizza at The Base. This Bantry Bay hot-spot provides the perfect setting to enjoy the gourment square-cut pizzas and wash it down with a cold craft beer.

Fresh tomato sauce, oozing mozzarella and a thin, blistered crust, the menu boosts six mouth-watering pizzas using the freshest seasonal  and creative toppings, that include prosciutto, gorgonzola, rocket and fig, or pulled pork, blush peach compote, sesame and slaw. Light and crispy gluten free base options are also available and all pizzas are fired on Chef Craig Paterson’s signature dough recipe with a delicious fresh tomato sauce.

Take-away options are also available for collection. Prices range from R95 – R135.

The Base is proof that the culture of Italian food can be transmitted, taught, loved, and made even by those who weren’t born there or haven’t lived under the Bel Paese sun.
