Winetimes Red And White Wine Of The Year

Finding it hard to recall the best wines you had in 2012? Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Could it be that we’ve simply had too many too count? Probably.

Yet, there were some wines we tasted during 2012 that just stood out from the rest.

Best White Wine 2012

Cartology 2011

The finest Chenin Blanc in South Africa in our opinion. The Cartology – meaning ‘the study of maps’ – is made by Chris and Suzaan Alheit from very old, unirrigated bush vines in different parts of the Cape. The total production of this wine is just 5,000 bottles and unfortunately for us it’s all sold out.

Best Red Wine 2012

Radford Dale Gravity 2008

The philosophy driving Radford Dale is to produce wines with little pretense, and without compromise. They are hitting the nail on the head with the Gravity 2008. The wine is a perfect blend of Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. One of South Africa’s best reds!
