The Franschhoek Cellar steams ahead by clinching two major wine tourism awards

It has been a week to remember for The Franschhoek Cellar, with the DGB (Pty) Ltd winery being awarded not one, but two coveted local accolades for excellence in wine tourism.

In an awards ceremony held on 29 March, The Franschhoek Cellar was presented with the New Tourism Business of the Year Award at the Cape Winelands District Municipality Mayoral Tourism Awards. Criteria for this award included demonstrating a positive impact on tourism as well as the potential to generate future tourism growth.

The second recognition came from the highly anticipated annual Klink Awards, presented by Wine Tourism South Africa. The Franschhoek Cellar won the ‘Out of the Ordinary’ category, awarded to a winery for a unique and memorable attraction or selling point that distinguishes it from the rest.

The achievements are glowing esteem for a brand that has managed to win widespread favour and following among wine tourists in the mere three years since its launch, says Carla Malherbe, Hospitality Manager at The Franschhoek Cellar:

“It is such an honour to receive awards of this nature having been in operation just short of three years. The Franschhoek Cellar has grown immensely since we first opened in December 2014 and this could not have been possible without a strong team on the ground to handle our rapid growth. We are thrilled with these achievements which inspires us to work even harder at being the best.”
