One Hundrend and two years ago South Africa’s general election was held for the 121 seats in the House of Assembly of the Union of South Africa.This was the first general election, after the Union came into force on 31 May 1910. Our country surely came a long way since then and we therefore see it fit to celebrate our democracy with this fine white from Elgin Vintners. The Century Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2011 is a blend of 65% sauvignon blanc and 35% semillon. What makes this wine extra special is the fact that this is the first vintage of semillon grapes harvested from within the Elgin Vintners stable. Truly delicious and sensationally seductive. A great wine to enjoy while you ponder over the past but an even better wine to cheers to a brighter future.

EU politics forced Allesverloren to drop the “Port” and rename their fortified wine. Allesverloren Port is now sold in South Africa under the name Allesverloren Fine Old Vintage. The Fine Old Vintage is a full, rich wine with a combination of red and black berry as well as spice flavours, and a lingering finish of roasted hazelnuts and almonds.
Modjadji Noble Late Harvest 2011

Produced by a small family-owned winery, Nitida in Dubanville, the Modjadji is made from 100% Semillon grapes and produced in honour of the Rain Queen of the Balobedu people in Limpopo. This hereditary title is passed down from mother to daughter with each successive Rain Queen inheriting special powers, including the ability to control clouds and rainfall. Owner and cellarmaster, Bernhard Veller saw it fit to name their Noble Late Harvest wine after a strong and powerful woman. VIVA South Africa VIVA!
