In our travels around the Caribbean we’ve been on the receiving end of many hotel welcome amenities.

Ice buckets of champagne; logoed beach bags; and handy water bottles – we’ve been lucky enough to check in and find all these niceties awaiting us in our suite.

But at Mexico’s Grand Velas Riviera Maya, we were delighted to be welcomed with something extraordinary; something that’s not only authentic to the destination but alcoholic, too.

Each of the 439 suites at the plush all-inclusive resort comes complete with a personal tequila service: limes, salt, traditional blue-rimmed Mexican glassware; and a bottle of custom-branded reposado (aged) tequila, manufactured exclusively for the resort by the founders of the Don Julio brand.
