Wellington Wines makes movie debut

The Bovlei range from Wellington Wines will be making their silver screen debut this week in the Afrikaans movie, Dis koue kos, Skat. Wellington Wines were the official wine sponsor of the movie and its premieres, which took place in Johannesburg and Cape Town in conjunction with the PinkDrive.

Boland residents can enjoy a preview in Paarl on Thursday, 25 August, at 19h30 in the Paarl MiniMax. Beloved actress Anna-Mart van der Merwe plays the lead character Carla (Brand) Marx – a food writer, who often finds inspiration and solutions to daily challenges and deadlines in a glass of Bovlei wine.

Proceeds of the evening will go to the Paarl Post Christmas Fund. Tickets are available at R80 per person from the Bovlei tasting room in Wellington, Paarl Post offices or at the Minimax. Light refreshments and great wines will be served beforehand and lovely prizes will be up for grabs during the lucky draw.

Bovlei Cellar merged with the Wellington Wines brand several years ago and the former cellar currently serves as a tasting venue for Wellington Wines Ltd, where wine lovers can taste a variety of wines from the Wellington cellar, including the Bovlei range. Until the end of September, visitors can walk in Carla’s shoes by booking a Koue kos en Wyn food and wine pairing. At only R50 per person, the tasting includes a glass of award-winning Pinotage, one of the recent winners at the Gold Wine Awards.

Wellington Wines are extremely proud of Pinotage, South Africa’s only indigenous varietal, and will therefore be participating in International Pinotage Day on 8 October. The producer will be hosting a Pinotage Celebration at the Bovlei venue, which will include Pinotage Pilates, a Pinotage market, Pinotage tastings and culminate in the inaugural Pinotage Langtafel. During the formal 3-course meal, each dish will be paired with various styles of Pinotage, including the critically acclaimed La Cave Pinotage, which recently won at both the Terroir and Quest for The Best competitions. Guests can also expect specially aged wines from their vinoteque.

As October is breast cancer awareness month, the PinkDrive will also have a presence at the Pinotage Celebration to raise funds and awareness. Wellington Wines will offer visitors a 10% discount on all purchases and encourage visitors to donate these savings to the PinkDrive.
