Wines in the spotlight

This month, acclaimed Master of Wine, Tim Atkin met some of the wines of Constantia Uitsig as well as our winemaker, Jacques. The result? An impressive 3 Constantia Uitsig wines were given his highest stamp of approval… ratings in the enviable 90’s!

Constantia Uitsig Semillon 2015 – 92 points

An exquisitely complex nose of limes, orange marmalade and earthy notes, whilst the palate is full-bodied with a wonderful lanolin texture and a persistent finish.

Constantia Uitsig Natura Vista – 94 points

A beautifully balanced blend, with grass and green limes on the nose giving way to a lean, fresh and elegant palate. An earthy minerality and hint of firm white peaches gives way to an incredibly long finish.

Constantia Uitsig MCC 2013 – 92 points

This Method Cap Classique is made from Chardonnay grapes only. Having waited 3 years in the bottle prior to release, its golden hue hints at the mouthwatering maturity that awaits. On the nose, you’ll find red apples, honey and almonds. The palate is beautifully balanced with loads of apple and tangerine as well as a crisp acidity in homage to its cool origin.

Introducing our Red Horizon 2014

Having just sold out of our Red Horizon 2013, the newest arrival at our cellar door is a light and elegant, easy drinking red blend with an abundance of cherries on the nose, followed by the lingering scent of tobacco and ripe plums. On the palate, soft tannins give way to a well-integrated wine that is drinking exceptionally already, but promises to get even better by next winter. Blend composition: Merlot 58%, Cabernet Sauvignon 37%, Cabernet Franc 5%.
