Yanks swimming in a sea of SA Chardonnay

Particularly after this week’s Celebration of Chardonnay – presented at De Wetshof – I certainly wouldn’t mind floating about in some ice cold Chardonnay. I’m not sure if this was also the plan of celebrating Democrats, but the latest Sawis stats reveal that enough bulk South African Chardonnay was recently shipped to the States to fill a number of pools.

Compared to the previous year, bulk Chardonnay exports grew by a flabbergasting 192% during the 12 months leading up to October 2012. The total bulk exports were 21,4mil litres, with 10,6mil litres destined for Obamaland. Neighbouring Canada also seemed to follow this trend, filling a few pools with 3,3mil litres of the good stuff.
