#21daysoflockdown / Day 4: Plan Your Next Wine Tasting

Its the first Monday in our lock-down so why not plan your next wine tasting? We have a great selection of award-winning & John Platter 5 star wines, for you to choose from in our Terroir Tasting at the Jordan tasting room.

Not sure which 5 wines to order for your tasting?
No problem here is a bit more information about each wine:

We all need magic in our lives. Especially black magic on those days you just think it’s never going to end. Sit back and let the magic take over with a glass of our Black Magic Merlot. Part whole-berry fermentation and softer pump-overs extract aromas of red plums and dark bitter chocolate. French oak maturation seasons the wine to accentuate the seductive flavours and generous velvety tannins.

The Jordan The Prospector Syrah, named after the mining rush that took place in the late 1800s which led to the finding of tin on the property of Jordan estate. Find a beautiful spot in your home and enjoy this silky, spicy, elegant wine.

Our Inspector Péringuey is named of the Inspector General of the Cape who led the fight against phylloxera and supervised the importation of healthy rootstocks from America and grafting onto vine. He basically saved the wine industry so you could drink great wines. Save yourself… Open the bottle.

We’re all a little out of sorts at the moment. This wine isn’t. Our Jordan the Outlier Sauvignon Blanc is a beautiful combination of fruit and a touch of oak. Perfectly normal for those abnormal days. Make sure it’s perfectly chilled, then chill….

Jordan Chardonnay is a variety of chardonnay clones planted on different slopes, harvested at different ripening levels and pretty much all of it fermented and matured in French oak barrels. Bold and graceful with fragrances of lemon biscuit and overripe oranges will keep you relaxed during lock-down.

Jordan The Long Fuse Cabernet Sauvignon: short fuse or long fuse, at some point there is a fuse and it’s going to explode. Once you’ve popped… the bottle, that is, enjoy this wine knowing that it took over 300 charges of dynamite to remove a granite boulder from the soils of Jordan to make way for more vines.

Jordan Unoaked Chardonnay, Inspired by the styles of Chablis where Chardonnay is allowed to express its inherent character. A totally unique unoaked offering that is defined partly by extended lees contact that develops mouthfeel and nuance in the wine. Aromas of freshly grated lemon zest and citrus orchard that finishes with flavours of apricot puree and lime sorbet.

Jordan Cold Fact Sauvignon Blanc: to be enjoyed while listening to Rodriguez album “Cold Fact” and search for that sweet spot: a combination of fruit flavours, minerality and sugar, man!

The Real McCoy Riesling is made with our German clone grapes that were vinified and once the perfect balance between sugar and acidity was reached, the fermentation was stopped to retain a hint of natural fruit sugars. Intense flavours of lime through to white peach and Granny Smith apple. A superb accompaniment to the lighter spectrum of Asian cuisine.
