3 Sauvignon Blancs to try this weekend

One thing is for sure, sauvignon blanc definitely stands out in a crowd. Even the least initiated of wine tasters could not mistake a sauvignon blanc out of the bottle. The variety has been one of the best sellers in South Africa for many years and no home should ever be without a bottle.

To celebrate the weekend we bring you three sauvignon blancs to try. Each of these wines show different characteristics but the one is as enjoyable as the other.

This winery does not fail at this price; lemongrass-edged soft texture and smooth feel on the tongue. A great wine to enjoy with or without food.

I tasted the 2009 vintage at the Nederburg Auction pre-tasting the other day and it reminded me just how much I love their Sauvignon Blanc. This Sauvignon Blanc  is super-zesty and fresh and offers aromas of lime and grapefruit. A superbly made wine from the Elgin region.

I came across this beauty at the Taj Expressions of Walker Bay, Elim and Botriver the other night. Big on the citrus and green fig, blessed with minerals and a juicy texture. The price is spot on and one will need more than one bottle of this wine, it’s that tasty.
