$500k of Hennessy Cognac stolen in US

Police have still not traced more than half-a-million dollars’ worth of Hennessy Cognac that was stolen from a shipping yard in Baltimore County, US, on 16 March.

A total of 2,142 cases of Hennessy Cognac worth US$514,000 were stolen when an unknown number of people broke into a fenced-in parking area of ServeU, a freight shipping company.

Baltimore police said the thieves managed to gain access to a white 2001 Freightliner truck with “Hale Trucking” written on the door, before attaching it to a yellow cargo container holding the Cognac.

Speaking to CBS Baltimore, Cpl. John Wachter, Baltimore County police spokesman, said: “They were able to contain access to a 2001 freightliner truck.
