#8DaysOfLockDown / Day 14: Discover The Wildlife At Jordan Wine Estate

Only 8 days left of lockdown and if we haven’t convinced you to come and visit us our animal friends will!

At Jordan, we believe in holistic farming and we have a wide range of wild animals who coexist with our farming habits. Our most famous animal would be the Cape Dwarf Chameleon. Chameleons are remarkable creature, known mostly for their uncanny ability to adopt an entirely different hue within a matter of seconds.

The Cape Dwarf Chameleon (Bradypodion pumilum) is one of 15 currently identified dwarf chameleons that are endemic to South Africa. This specific species is found only in a limited section of the Western Cape, around Cape Town, the Boland, and the mountainous coastline as far as Agulhas.

We also have a family of Cape Foxes living in our vineyards. If you are lucky enough you can spot them playing in the early mornings and late evenings! You can also sit on The Bakery’s deck and view a wide range of birds, from colourful hummingbirds, buzzards, cranes to a South African Fish Eagle patrolling his territory.

We promise that every visit to Jordan will be an unforgettable experience!
