A glass of wine with Meryl Streep

Today we cheers to Meryl Streep, who holds the record with 17 for the most Academy Award nominations by any actor.

The Devil wears Prada star won the Oscar for best lead actress on Sunday for her portrayal of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.

To celebrate the actress and her love for wine, the Film and Wine matinee at Votiv Kino in Vienna will showcase the talents of both Meryl Streep and wine producer Franz Weninger this coming March.

The Votiv cinema in Austria’s capital puts on an afternoon of film and wine almost twice monthly. The matinee cinema trip is made all the better by the accompaniment of an Austrian winegrower who is given the opportunity to showcase their wine.

March will see the screening of the “Iron Lady”. The film looks at one woman’s fight for power in a male-dominated political and social world and the price she paid in her position as the country’s leader.

The popular monthly event will take place on 3 and 10 March and the film and wine experience cost 15 Euros.
