Art, Music, and Cinema: Benguela Cove has it all in 2023!

Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate has announced a host of exciting events in the coming months, ranging from live jazz music and salsa dancing to an Easter Egg Hunt and Movies Under the Stars.

Guests can enjoy these experiences in a holiday break, staying in one of the estate’s luxury oceanside villas. They each offer views across the beautiful lagoon and feature a state-of-the-art kitchen for self-catering, as well as a swimming pool and braai.

Art enthusiasts can visit the Art Gallery Pop-Up Shop at Benguela Cove until April 11th. The shop offers a range of jewellery, artworks, and crafts for sale. Artists Ann Gadd, David Kuijers and Lisa Nell all contributed to the selection that is available for guests to buy.

For those who love live music and bubbles, Benguela Cove has got you covered. Every Saturday and Sunday, visitors can enjoy bottomless bubbles and Mimosas with live music at the estate.

Live Jazz Sundays are also on offer at the Moody Lagoon Restaurant every Sunday until April 23rd, from 13:00 to 16:00. Visitors can enjoy leisurely lunches and panoramic views while listening to some of the best jazz musicians in the area, the organisers say. For the children, there are giant courtyard games, Pirate Adventure Golf and the exhilarating Splash Pad.

For those who love to dance, Benguela Cove hosts a Salsa Dance Class every Thursday night, from 18:00 to 20:00. Jenielle Solomons runs the estate’s tasting room and is South Africa’s former Latin American dance champion. She says that everyone attending will have fun, and classes are suitable for beginners and advanced salsa dancers.

A big annual event in the calendar of the Hermanus wine farm is the Easter Egg Hunt trail. This will take place from Saturday, April 1st until Monday, April 10th. Visitors can go on an exciting adventure and explore the beautiful grounds to find lots of clues, with an Easter treat waiting at the end.

Easter events at Benguela Cove include live performances by two popular bands: Rumours of Fleetwood Mac, on Saturday April 8th, and The Breeze Live Band on April 9th, playing 70’s blues and boogie sets, with music legends Robin Auld, Rob Nagel and Michael Canfield.

Movies Under the Stars is featured at Benguela Cove from Friday, April 7th until Saturday, January 6th, 2024. Line-up: 7 April 2023 Mamma Mia!, 24 September 2023 Top Gun: Maverick, 18 December 2023 The Grinch, 6 January 2024 Grease.

Visitors will enjoy fantastic films under the stars, with a variety of new, family-friendly, and cult classic films each month. Visitors can pre-book a gourmet picnic basket with Benguela Cove’s award-winning South African wines and there is also popcorn, gourmet burgers, hot dogs and slushies available to purchase.

Finally, The monthly 30+ Dinner Party Club will be hosting a ‘no-strings-attached’ event on Saturday, April 22nd, and then May 20th and June 24th. It offers single professionals over the age of 30 the opportunity to meet like-minded people over dinner. Moody Lagoon Restaurant provides a relaxed setting, with dancing and a live band and a three-course set menu, which includes half a bottle of wine per person and a pre-dinner welcome drink.

With so many exciting events planned, the Hermanus wine farm at Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate is a perfect destination for visitors looking to experience the best that the Western Cape has to offer.
