Backsberg wines get Jazz lovers in the swing

Backsberg Estate Cellars has been appointed the official wine sponsor of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, one of the world’s leading jazz events which will this year be held on 1 and 2 April.

Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, Backsberg will supply a select range of wines to both the public bars and corporate hospitality suites which make up a substantial part of the Jazz Festival offering.

Simon Back, CEO of Backsberg, says that a premier world-class event such as the Jazz Festival is a tremendous way of promoting South Africa’s wine to a wide audience from South Africa and across the continent.

“As the capital of the South African wine industry, Cape Town provides a terrific platform for promoting the country’s wine culture and introducing visitors to a product that has essentially been a part of the city and its people since 1659,” says Back.

“With Backsberg’s presence at the Jazz Festival we are going to embrace the opportunity of reminding visitors as well as local attendees of the quality of South African wine. Wine is after all as much a part of Cape heritage as jazz, music and festivity, as those attending the Jazz Festival will find out.”

This year’s two-day jazzfest features international stars including Eddie Parker, Angie Stone, Meshell Ndegeocello and Jazz Attack with Peter White, Rick Braun and Euge Groove as well as South Africa’s Benjamin Jephta Quintet.
