Beefeater Seals status as global gin giant

Beefeater London Dry Gin is the only gin that’s still distilled in London. Beefeater 24, having recently walked away with a Gold Best in Class Medal at the International Wine and Spirit Competition. International Wine and Spirit Competition is indeed noteworthy. Beefeater 24, the stable’s super premium expression, was recently positioned as a market leader in the stable to establish the brand’s pedigree, and is doing so with aplomb and finesse!

Accolades and Beefeater go hand-in-hand and this most recent recognition follows a litany of successive accolades – both at this particular Competition as well as a plethora of others over recent years. This follows hot-on the heels of Beefeater 24 having recently attained the unsurpassed Trophy of Best Gin as well as a Double Gold status at the largest and oldest spirits Competition in the United States, that is, the equally reputable San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC). With a portfolio of stellar accolades, the benchmark of excellence has been set, and Beefeater can, with absolute conviction, hold fast to the title of  being coined the ‘most established gin in the world’.

The super premium, Beefeater 24, is the masterpiece of Desmond Payne, the world’s most reputable Master Distiller of gin. Payne, inspired by founder James Burrough, son of a tea merchant, sought to imitate the unique expression attained in rare teas, which are comprised of a combination of botanicals. The numerical value ‘24’ in the name refers to the full 24-hour day during which the botanicals are steeped prior to distillation, while the actual blend is made from hand-selected natural ingredients, namely: Japanese Sencha Tea, Chinese Green Tea, Seville orange-, grapefruit-, and lemon-peel; as well as juniper-, angelica-, and coriander-seed; orris- and liquorice-root with almond nuances threaded throughout. This exquisite expression, Beefeater24, is available at select outlets nationally and retails for approximately R300 per bottle.

The masterpiece created is not only applicable to the contents of Beefeater 24, but mirrored also in form as well – the aesthetic frame which houses this delicious blend is simply sublime. The rectangular bottle is flanked by four intricate, pressed glass façades, through which the vibrant red of the punt is deflected upwards as a beam. The prism effect – created by the shapes, hues and content – creates a gorgeous liveliness of colour as you swivel the bottle in your hand.

David de Mardt, Managing Director of Pernod Ricard South Africa, the drinks giant responsible for marketing and distributing Beefeater in South Africa, commented on how proud they were to represent ‘the world’s most highly regarded gin’. He added that these awards were particularly significant given that ‘Beefeater 24 is already enjoying the limelight on global platforms through this recognition by global industry experts’.
