South Africa’s alcoholic beverage manufacturer Distell can now acquire shares in State-owned Kenya Wine Agencies (Kwal), after Parliament cleared a major hurdle that had threatened the 14-year partnership between the two firms.
Parliament yesterday approved the privatisation of Kwal, which effectively allows Distell – which is its major supplier and trading partner, to acquire a stake in the local firm when the State floats its shares to other investors.
