Boschendal Chardonnay Pinot Noir: A beautiful blush for a summer bash

Local South African fashion and food blogger and co-founder of Orphic Fashion Tsakisani Maryluck Mondlani sampled the recently released Boschendal Chardonnay Pinot Noir 2017 vintage and immediately named it her new favourite wine. “It has a beautiful aroma, a hint of strawberries, citrus and summer fruits. The palate is especially fresh with crisp acidity and an opulent, full rounded body. It’s an outright stunning wine.”

For Mondlani, it’s the ideal vintage for festive season soirees in the summer sunshine and the perfect accompaniment to Christmas feasts. Acclaimed white winemaker Lizelle Gerber says the delicately dry blush wine joins the ranks of Boschendal’s best. “The 2017 harvest was especially pleasing, with big fruity flavours that imbued our  Chardonnay Pinot Noir with its fresh, complex finish.”

Gerber says that the wine’s process of creation makes it crisp. “Our grapes ripen in the long, cool nights and are picked in the early morning chill, ensuring an incomparable crispness.”

She adds that gentle oak maturation imparts an elegant finishing note of spice to the blend, which has outstanding finesse and versatility. The beautiful bottle lends flair to any occasion and the wine pairs well with most cuisines, making it the ideal accompaniment to a memorable Christmas gathering with family and friends.
