Bouchard Finlayson Releases Flagship 2017 Missionvale Chardonnay

Bouchard Finlayson has released the latest vintage of its flagship Chardonnay – the 2017 Missionvale. Chardonnay is seeing a resurgence in the international consumer market where the new world Chardonnays are generally known for their buttery oak flavours.

The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and its associated terroir have consistently proven itself as one of the Cape’s most treasured Chardonnay locations. Regarded as one of the finest Chardonnays, the Bouchard Finlayson 2017 Missionvale Chardonnay shows breed and finesse and is produced from grapes harvested exclusively from the Estate. The name of the wine stems from the mission hospital which was established on the domain property in the early 19th century.

A wine for all seasons, the 2017 Missionvale Chardonnay is styled as a food focussed wine, and the ideal companion to soft cheese, fish pâté, Bouillabaisse and fish, as well as chicken or sushi dishes. The wine displays flavours of pineapple and white pear, with the slightest hint of toasted hazelnut. It shows a distinctively refreshing, savoury accent within its broad, yet harmonious, palate. The polished and creamy texture floats easily into a lengthy, expressive finish.
