Bouchard Finlayson to Showcase its Vintages in the 5th Hemel-en-Aarde Pinot Noir Celebration

Bouchard Finlayson will once again be taking part in the annual Hemel-en-Aarde Pinot Noir Celebration, which will be presented at Nidderdale, a striking new venue where the 2016 Pinot noir vintage will be showcased on 26 and 27 January 2018.

Now in its 5th year, this year’s event aims to revel in the subtle differences offered by each appellation – Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, and Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge – with a festive two-day event that weaves together wine and culinary culture with an exciting new programme of events.

The Hemel-en-Aarde Pinot Noir Celebration 2018 will primarily be a seated fine wine showcase featuring Michael Fridjhon as master of ceremonies, presenting it in an engaging and entertaining format with the winemakers. Throughout the weekend scores of small, thematic and intimate events will be held around the Hemel-en-Aarde.

Founder of Bouchard Finlayson, Peter Finlayson, who is widely known as South Africa’s ‘pinot pioneer’, will host an interactive tasting at Bouchard Finlayson on the Saturday morning. The exclusive event for 18 guests only will set out to illustrate the unique combination of soil and climate, where the exact balance of the unique terroir provides the perfect expression of the elusive Pinot noir grape. Themed ‘Reflections from Bouchard Finlayson’, the tasting will comprise of four flights of Pinot noir, including Galpin Peak, Tête de Cuvée and CWG Pinot noir to reflect on Peter’s winemaking as far back as 1998, up to the 2013 vintage, tasted alongside international comparisons from Burgundy, New Zealand and Germany.
