British Metal Band Motörhead Releases 8 Year Old Dominican Dark Rum

Following on from the release of the band’s Röad Crew beer earlier this year, Heavy Metal band Motörhead has announced the release of a new eight-year-old Dominican dark rum.

Aged for eight years in ex-Bourbon barrels, the resulting spirit is described as having “aromas of dried fruit, vanilla, brown sugar, arrack and dark chocolate. Full-bodied and spicy with notes of chocolate, vanilla, oak and nuts, with a medium sweet, spicy finish.”

The rum is produced by Sweden-based Brands For Fans, whose business manager Yvonne Wener said called Motörhead, “the most dedicated, wonderful guys one could ever ask for, and true gentlemen in every sense.”

The band’s drinks brand, Motörhead Drinks, also produces a wine, vodka, cider, whisky and beer.

Motörhead teamed up with Swedish distillery Mackmyra in 2015 to produce their own brand of whisky to mark their 40th year.

In 2013 the band released a boxed wine modelled to look like a guitar amplifier. Like its bottled version, Motörhead’s Sacrifice Shiraz comes from South Eastern Australia.

The rum was officially released in Sweden through its monopoly on 1 December, but other markets can contact the company directly for distribution information at [email protected].
