Last year we ended our harvest as the lockdown began, and this year we start the harvest in the same situation. For this financial year, the South African Wine Industry has faced a ban on local sales already totalling 20 weeks. We can only trust things will be different next year.

No matter the challenges, we remain positive and grateful to be alive and working. This is the significant time of year when all our team’s hard work comes to fruition and we look forward to the harvest with great anticipation. The first grapes to be picked are our darlings, the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which are harvested early for our Elation MCC.

Pinot Parade

As reported previously, the annual Hemel-en-Aarde Pinot Noir Celebration which typically would have taken place over this coming weekend, had to be cancelled due to the ban on local alcohol sales. However, to showcase our four award-winning Pinot Noirs and in order not to deprive our Pinot lovers, we take pleasure in bringing you our ‘Pinot Parade’.  It offers you the rare chance of ordering mixed cases of Creation Pinot Noir, including older, library vintages.

The Creation Pinot portfolio presently comprises the Estate Pinot Noir, the Reserve Pinot Noir, Emma’s Pinot Noir and the Art of Pinot Noir. Our latest release – the 2019 Creation Art of Pinot Noir – boasts a rating of 97 in the Tim Atkin (MW) 2020 South Africa Special Report. It is one of only three Pinots in the report receiving such a high score and commenting on the wine Tim says: “This wouldn’t look out of place in a line-up of Gevrey Chambertin Premiers Crus and what a wine it is: intense, aromatic and vibrant . . . Structured, serious and built to age in bottle, with dark berry fruit and a dusting of Asian spices.
