Come Rain Or Shine, Boschendal Would Love To Host You This Winter!

THE Cape’s spectacular and verdant green season is now very much upon us and our farm is so ready to offer you the best of farm living and warm-hearted South African hospitality.

Father’s Day

Dad’s take centre stage this month and at Boschendal there are many ways to spoil the Fathers and fatherly types that walk like heroes among us.  The popular picnics at The Werf will continue throughout winter, a perfect way to take advantage of those sunny, mid-winter days. The Father’s Day  picnic  is set to be especially festive this year with the band Newton & Co setting the tone for an atmospheric and al-fresco afternoon feast with the family. If Dad prefers to gather his brood around a big lunch table though,  treat him to an indulgent three course set menu  prepared by Chef Allistaire at  The Werf. Looking to stay close to home then the recently launched online shop is the perfect space for you to select gifts and treats that Dad is sure to love, from ethically-made, hyper-locally sourced artisanal gifts to  specially curated braai boxes,  bottled sauces and pampering balms.

While parents and guardians take a breather, our  team of passionate young Experience Guides step in with captivating eco edutainment and outdoor experiences that unpack the joys of farm life and the ins and outs of the natural world.  The Tree House Outdoor Experience features morning, mid-day, afternoon and full day slots, all of which are also available to day visitors & because of their popularity, pre-booking is advised.

For a  free play session, why not try The Tree House adventure playground- enjoy the clamber frames, acorn hideouts, slides, platforms and pods, or the the pump track where kids can bring their own bikes or rent one from us. (A gentle reminder to parents and guardians that the jungle gym and bike track is not supervised, so please do keep an eye on your children in those play areas).

Head For The Woods

The thrill of the annual winter mushroom hunt is real and the winter rains sees these moreish edibles popping up around the farm streams and cool forest spaces. Forager par excellence Justin Williams will be leading two workshops on 26th and 27th this month, accompanying guests on an informative foray into the world of the delicious ’shroom. The fun day begins with a chat over coffee at The Deli and after the group has gone a-gathering, a mushroom-inspired lunch at the Olive Press brings the adventure to an aromatic end. Please note that a maximum of only fifteen persons may join at a time so advance booking is essential.

The Werf Winemakers Series

Boschendal is synonymous with fine wine and it goes without saying that our dedicated occasions tend to book out swiftly. We’re therefore humbly alerting all oenophiles well in advance to the Werf Winemaker Series that debuted earlier this month, with three more evenings scheduled into September. Taking place on the first Thursday of every month, our Werf Winemaker Series guests can enjoy a three course dinner at The Werf restaurant hosted by Chef Allistaire Lawrence and one of Boschendal’s three winemakers – Cap Classique winemaker Danielle Coetzee who was recipient of the prestigious Woman Winemaker of the Year at the 2020 South Africa Women’s Wine & Spirit Awards; white winemaker Michael Langenhoven, and Cellar Master and red winemaker Jacques Viljoen who recently launched the maiden 2017 Boschendal Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon to great acclaim. Chef Allistaire, looking first to the farm’s organic vegetable garden, orchards and herds, will curate yet another sumptuous dining experience that cleverly showcases Boschendal wines
