Happy Cotton Candy Day!
The history of this delightful treat dates back to 1897. Cotton candy was invented by William Morrison and John C. Wharton, candymakers from Nashville, who invented a device that heated sugar in a spinning bowl that had tiny holes in it. It formed a treat that they originally called “Fairy Floss.”
Here in South Africa, cotton candy is commonly known as “Spook Asem”, which translates to Ghost Breath. We therefore decided to added a dash of Caperitif – also known as the Ghost Ingredient – to this whimsical cocktail.
Ingredients
Cotton candy (strawberry flavour)
Champagne or sparkling wine
Caperitif
Place a bit of cotton candy inside your glass. Add a splash of Caperitif, and then fill to the top with Champagne.
