Cotton Candy Champagne Cocktail with a dash of Caperitif

Happy Cotton Candy Day!

The history of this delightful treat dates back to 1897. Cotton candy was invented by William Morrison and John C. Wharton, candymakers from Nashville, who invented a device that heated sugar in a spinning bowl that had tiny holes in it. It formed a treat that they originally called “Fairy Floss.”

Here in South Africa, cotton candy is commonly known as “Spook Asem”, which translates to Ghost Breath. We therefore decided to added a dash of Caperitif  – also known as the Ghost Ingredient – to this whimsical cocktail.
