Creation. From our World to Yours

With the peak season gradually subsiding, the Creation Tasting Room Team has had some time to reflect … Yes, we relish sharing our little piece of paradise with our guests, and of course we love showing off our award-winning wines.

But what we probably enjoy most is the interaction with our clients: every encounter has its own rewards and it is often a casual comment or question that triggers a fresh Creation innovation. These thoughts have inspired the philosophy behind our new 2017 blog series. It focuses on frequently asked – and sometimes unusual – questions by our visitors and aims to convey the interactive spirit prevailing in our Tasting Room. So here goes:

Q: Is white wine made from white grapes and red wine from red grapes?

A: Not necessarily. All grape juice is colourless; red wine is the result of extended skin contact that allows for the extraction of colour. The duration of skin contact determines the intensity of colour. The Creation Syrah for instance is allowed up to three weeks of skin contact.

Q: How is the pink colour obtained in a rosé wine?

A: There are various ways. In the case of Creation’s new Whale POD Pinot Noir Rosé it is made like a white wine. The Pinot grapes are taken in, crushed and then pressed and separated from the skins after one to two hours.

Q: Do you have a wine, or food and wine related question?

A: Don’t hesitate to send it via Twitter, Facebook or email. Our cellarmaster Jean-Claude, pairing fundi Carolyn and their teams look forward to responding!
